How much does it cost to mix a song or an album?
There are a few available methods that we use to bill our clients, and you can choose which one is best suited for your needs:
• Per hour
• Fixed price per song / album / compilation
• A combination of both
Per Hour
This is the most common pricing method if you don’t have a fixed budget for your production needs and you want to have unlimited requests of changes on the mixes and mastering.
Don’t worry about the final price being a surprise: after the first base mix, you can request all the changes that you want and we’ll provide an estimate on how long it would take to do them first, so that you are always in complete control on how much you’re going to spend.
The usual starting rate for this method is 30 Euros per hour, but you could have considerable discounts if your project is not a short one. The amount of work that can be done in one hour really depends on what we’re working with, so contact us to get a quote and more information about it.
Fixed Price
If you have a limited budget or if you want to know exactly how much you’ll spend beforehand, this is the best way to go. We can also use a combination of the two methods providing a discounted fixed price for the base mixes and then charging by the hour for future possible requests.
The prices for this method take into consideration how many changes will be included (usually more than needed), the time-frame in which it has to be completed and the amount of work that has to be done: this depends a lot from the quality of your recording and, of course, if you’ve recorded it with us you don’t have to worry about that!
Something important to consider is that there are a few settings that once done can be quickly transferred from a song to another, and some of them are very time-consuming (like the drums settings). For this reason, if you have to mix multiple songs that were recorded together (same equipment and instruments), the fixed price for the project will be a lot lower than doing just one song. To give you an idea, 2 or 3 single songs could easily cost as much as a whole album of 10-12 songs. Before we can provide a fixed price, we have to check the recordings and get a feel of your expectations, so please give us all your details and a demo to help us give you an approximate quote!
